Updating Flying Stars for 2022 Water Tiger Year
The Chinese New Year will be celebrated on 1 February this year, which is the first day of the lunar year. However, Flying Star Feng Shui and BaZi astrology (4Four Pillars of Destiny) is based on the hsia or farmer’s calendar representing the solar year. The Chinese solar year always begins on 4 February. The shift happens when the flying stars travel to their annual positions on this day. This is the time when all Flying star remedies and enhancements should preferably be in place.
Here we will be mainly dealing with the annual stars. When the same month flying star joins the annual star in the same location, the effects could be amplified for better or worse. For example, in February 2022, the month star Yellow 5 will join the annual Yellow 5 in Tai-Qi, the middle sector. Yellow 5 is associated with all kinds of annoying situations. If the middle sector of your home or work space coincides with a vital function room, please consider having your metal wind-chime or salt water jar in place by 4 February.
Challenging stars:
Below are all the challenging stars, in order of importance, their element and location in 2022 and how the negative aspects can be diminished to a certain extent. Of course for a bigger picture, we need to take a look at how the annual stars, and even the monthly visiting stars interact with our natal Flying Star chart.

5 Yellow that is flying to the Tai-Qi section, middle of our living and work spaces, is potentially the most troublesome one. Even though a metal wind-chime is used traditionally to control this star, oftentimes it is not very practical. Perhaps the salt water remedy tucked away somewhere, as long as the jar isn’t covered, would be more useful.
Most Challenging Months in 2022:
Worst months will be February, August and November 2022. In February 2022 as the Tiger year begins, the month star is 2 Black and the combination of these two can be rather problematic. That’s why it is a good preventive measure to have that salt-water remedy ready placed in the middle sector. In August the month star is also flying to the middle sector, so it is double whammy; 5 Yellow doubles. In November it will be the same as in February 2022.
Do You Really Need a Remedy?
One should also keep in mind the location of the stars when evaluating these changing influences. If a negative star such as Yellow 5 is found in a bath-room, storage or another seldom used area, no remedy will be required. However, when they are flying to a room with vital functions such as entrance, living room, bedroom, reception area or board-room at work, remedies will certainly be necessary. Even though an all metal wind-chime is the most efficient way of remedying 5 Yellow, sometimes using a salt water cure might be more practical.
Apart from the traditional cures, each and every item of decoration and accessory having the correct colours and shapes can be integrated into the interior design as remedies and will enhance the impact of that particular element. For example, along with an all metal wind-chime for curing Yellow 5, one could also use white curtains, white or black upholstered sofas with dot patterned cushions scattered on them, round/oval shapes in general, statues and ornaments in gold, silver, copper, bronze and white-washed walls, representing the metal and water elements. Needless to say that paying attention to these details will have absolutely no effect unless it is coupled with your intention. This is the key point when placing all Feng Shui remedies and enhancements.
Small Touches Could Have a Huge Impact:
Another important measure is to make sure that no objects representing the fire element are present when remedying the earth stars such as Yellow 5 and 2 Sickness. Bright lamps, predominantly red/purple carpets, furniture and other accessories with triangle or zigzag patterns in fire colours will all symbolise the fire element. The fire element feeding these earth stars will make them even stronger and more dangerous.
The same care should be taken with representations of the earth element when curing the metal 7. In the constructive cycle of the elements, earth supports the metal element. Since metal star 7 is dated in our present age of 8, encouraging it by support could create adverse effects. Examples of this negative support could be seen as Terra-cotta flooring, excessive use of earthenware ornaments, potted plants and earth colours, and check/gingham patterns dominating in interior design.
Tai Sui, Sui Po, 3 Killings:
After curing all the visiting negative stars we need to check the position of Grand Duke Jupiter, also called Tai Sui (tài suì, 太岁), 3 Shars-3 Afflictions or Killings (sān shā, 三煞) and the Clash Position, Sui Po (suì pò, 岁破).
The three Shar directions in 2022 are the string of Water; Ox, Rat and Pig. However, the most serious of these is N2, Rat that should be paid attention to.
When pinpointing these directions, it will be necessary to use a compass for precision and to mark the exact areas covered by these 15-degree segments on the floor-plan, to be able to see the precise areas of concern.
If you are building a new house or doing large scale renovation work this year, I would strongly recommend checking these directions first. It is said that offending the Grand Duke can create personal problems and offending Sui Po can be just as serious, not so much on a personal level, but affecting more your finances. If you have renovation plans, please check if you have Tai Sui and Sui Po segments disturbed. If so, please apply Feng Shui formulae for choosing a safe date to start (the building work or renovation). This also includes landscaping.

HOW TO MAKE SALT WATER REMEDY:
•Take a pint glass.
•Fill the glass ¾ with salt.
•Place metal coins on top of the salt.
•Fill with water all the way up.
•Place it where it is needed, preferably out of sight. It should not be covered though.
•Please remove it by the end of the solar year, 3 February.
